I'm kinda struggling to describe how bad this ad is... but I'll have a go.
One of the most iconic (yet over-played) images from last century, re-created to sell dodgy trainers.
And all done on behalf of a subsidiary of that well-known socialist organisation, Nike...

"Our every action is a battle cry against imperialism, and a battle hymn for the people's unity against the great enemy of mankind: the United States of America" -Ernesto 'Che' Guevara
Indeed, this is cultural parasite behaviour at its worst.
Converse has enough iconicity of its own, it doesn't need to be riding the coatails of this dude. No doubt it'll be the Warhol print next ... ;)

Shocking. However given the level of ignorance about Che how difficult would it be to teach the kids a bit of history AND leverage the impending death of his fellow revolutionary Fidel Castro. Here is his farewell letter that Che Guevara wrote to him.

I rambled on my blog the other day about brands flogging the dead horse that Warhol has become. This is just as bad. Borrowed interest in search of an idea. Grrr!
