Here's the new Burger King spot from Y&R in New Zealand -apparently it's just been banned from NZ TV for "the use of sex appeal to draw attention to the product". Which it does. Anyway, have a gander:
But of course, not every Kiwi ad is a tongue-in-cheek post-post-ironic cracker -this one is just a cheap riff on 'highbeams':
A week or two back, I had the honour of attending the UK premiere of 'The Devil Dared Me To'(that sounds quite flash, whereas it actually took place in the back-room of Filthy McNasties pub in Angel...), a f*cking hilarious and really rather good film from thesechaps.
The world premiere was at SXSW, where it got a standing ovation. It also got a cracking review on Ain't It Cool. We'll let you know release dates etc (AT, drop me a line, huh?) but meanwhile here's the trailer:
Earlier today I watched the trailer for 'Eagle vs Shark' -the wonderfully awkward (& Miramax-funded) debut from Oscar-nominated director/actor/comedian/Wellingtonian Taika Waititi:
And then we have Mr Jonathan King's ovine schlock-horror fest, 'Black Sheep', featuring special effects from Peter Jackson's Weta Workshop:
Ok, one swallow does not a summer make, but today was a cracker here in London (we celebrated with our first al fresco lunch and all). Lovely, and a good enough excuse to post a couple of seasonal ads from 'back home'.
First up, this slice of genius from the incomparable Colenso BBDO (lovely review here too):
Thankfully, its not a Campaign puff-piece on London's most well-endowed adwankers but rather another vitriolic rant from Charlie Brooker, originally broadcast last week on Screen Wipe but now available for all courtesy of the interweb.
Of particular interest to New Zealand readers will be the appearance of well-known Shortland Streeter-cum-elf Craig Parker as a "smug bell-end with a brain full of women and mortgages".
